In the race for third place in Portugal’s La Liga action, both Sporting Lisbon and Benfica lost, keeping everything in the top 5 places the same with one game left.  Sporting’s loss was an embarrassing one, losing 4-1 to the league’s last place team Uniao Leiria who had scored only 19 goals all season before the match.  Despite this upset, no changes were made in the race to avoid relegation from Portugal’s La Liga.  Both teams fighting for this Leixoes (23 points) and Pacos de Ferreira (24 points) earned draws giving neither the point differential that they wanted.
